The Cinder Earrings

A pair of Edwardian hoop earrings, the old-cut diamonds catching the light along one edge and nowhere else. The work is so even you would swear a machine did it, though none then could. It came to us from a Florentine family, still in the fitted box it was put away in. Pieces like this do not come apart; they were built to be handed on.
