Nightjar Ring

A half-hoop in platinum, old-cut diamonds catching the light along one edge and nowhere else. Whoever made it favoured knife-edge galleries. Each stone is closed in its own collet, the way settings were made before machines. It had spent two generations with a Karlsbad collection before it found its way to us, passed hand to hand and never once sold until now. It has outlived everyone who owned it and shows no sign of stopping.
